YMCA of the Rockies in beautiful Estes Park, Colorado is a well known location to have a conference, family reunion or getaway. It is surrounded on three sides by the majestic Rocky Mountain National Park. This amazing facility has nine hundred lodging rooms and nearly sixty meeting rooms. The Walter G. Reusch Auditorium seats over six hundred and is the main auditorium for large meetings, concerts, services, etc.
In 2016, Sight and Sound Technologies was selected to replace the auditorium's aging sound reinforcement system with new Danley Sound Labs loudspeakers and subwoofers, and to help with a video upgrade. This project arose because the facility had some money allocated to update the auditorium with new floors, new chairs, new lights, new sound, and new video. Sight and Sound Technologies helped with both the sound and video systems upgrades.

We installed a five-panel PL-11 Distributed Mode Loudspeaker (DML) system by Tectonic in Shove Memorial Chapel at Colorado College in Colorado Springs. The chapel is a natural stone construction in the traditional design of gothic cathedrals; with an arching ceiling, long and narrow nave and fairly wide perpendicular transepts.
The design mandate was to provide a speaker system that was highly intelligible, feedback resistant, providing equal frequency and volume coverage to all areas of the space and respectful of the architecture. The resulting acoustics characteristics are highly reverberant.
Together, Sight And Sound Technologies and Tectonic were able to solve a complex audio design, starting with a zero-impact audio demonstration, and provide a solution that met all audio and architectural requirements.
Rocky Mountain Classical Academy Charter School

Sight and Sound Technologies provided the audio, video and lighting systems for the new building of the Rocky Mountain Classical Academy. Founded in 2005, RMCA is a successful K-8 charter school in Colorado’s second-largest city, Colorado Springs. The school was split between two locations until the recent completion of a brand new $17 million, 100,000 square-foot building to house all of its 1,000 students.
The building is community-oriented, featuring lots of open areas and gathering spaces with an abundance of natural light. Among them are an adjacent gymnasium and auditorium. With a clever arrangement of movable partitions, the two facilities share a stage that can be used for a wide range of events. When unforeseen budgetary issues threatened the audio/video systems in both rooms, the school district hired local Sight & Sound Technologies to engineer a fix that would preserve the hoped-for functionality and reliability at a more affordable price. Sight & Sound swapped out the original design’s pricey processors and amplifiers for Ashly Audio’s affordable, network-ready DSP and nX Series amplifiers.
“As sometimes happens, the new building ran into extra expenses that they hadn’t planned for,” said Kris Johnson, COO with Sight & Sound Technologies. “They brought us in, and we got as close to the original system’s functionality as we could while still passing on a savings that amounted to hundreds of thousands of dollars.
